The Table (Still Life with Fan)

This is The Table, a still life with a fan, painted by Braque in the autumn of nineteen ten. The table is tipped toward you and flattened until its top and the wall behind it occupy the same shallow space. Depth has stopped being a window and become a few centimetres of relief.
