Before you is Tableau number 2, painted by Piet Mondrian in nineteen fourteen. Mondrian arrived in Paris in nineteen twelve and absorbed Cubism quickly. The pier and ocean motifs of these years are the bridge between his early landscapes and the grid paintings that followed.
