First Requiem

This is First Requiem — a sculpture by Anne Truitt, nineteen seventy-seven. Truitt was part of the Minimalism movement. It's acrylic on wood, about 2.3 by 0.2 meters. It is an odd shape for a picture: about 2.3 metres one way and 0.2 the other, so it reads as a band rather than a window.
