Here we have Untitled from the series Hourglasses — a painting by the Brazilian artist Alfredo Volpi, nineteen sixty-four. Volpi was part of the modernism movement. Gouache, which is watercolour made opaque with chalk so it covers the paper rather than staining it. You can pick out the abstract geometric, and the abstract shapes.
