The Back (II)

Henri Matisse · Issy-les-Moulineaux, 1911 (?) - early March or April 1913

The Back, the second, from about nineteen thirteen. The figure has flattened toward the panel and the anatomy has begun to go: what were shoulder blades are now two broad planes, and the hair has become a single heavy column down the spine.
