Sleeping Figure

This is Sleeping Figure — a sculpture by Bourgeois, nineteen fifty. Painted balsa wood — about 1.9 by 0.3 meters. It is an odd shape for a picture: about 1.9 metres one way and 0.3 the other, so it reads as a band rather than a window. In the picture, look for the carved figure.
