My August

This is My August, painted by Joan Snyder in two thousand twenty-three. Oil and acrylic are only the start of it: there is papier-mâché in the surface, and straw, and flower stems, and actual rosebuds pressed into the paint. Snyder has been building paintings out of garden matter for decades, and they are meant to dry, fade and age.
