Fragment from Homage to New York

This is a fragment of Homage to New York, Jean Tinguely's self-destroying machine of nineteen sixty. He built it in the museum's garden out of bicycle wheels, motors and scrap, set it running before an audience, and it was supposed to destroy itself completely. It caught fire and the fire brigade intervened. This is what survived.
