Before you is Chess Set — a design object by the American artist Man Ray (Emmanuel Radnitzky), nineteen twenty to nineteen twenty-six. It's silver-plated and oxidized silver-plated brass, about 7 by 54 centimeters. It is an odd shape for a picture: about 0.5 metres one way and 0.1 the other, so it reads as a band rather than a window. Man Ray (Emmanuel Radnitzky) was part of the surrealism movement.
