Water Tower

This is Water Tower, cast by Rachel Whiteread in nineteen ninety-eight in translucent resin. It is the volume of water inside a wooden rooftop tank in SoHo, made solid — Whiteread casts the space things contain rather than the things themselves. It stood on a Manhattan roof for a year before coming here.
