This is Trio A, filmed in nineteen seventy-eight — silent, black and white, sixteen millimetre. Yvonne Rainer made the dance in nineteen sixty-six as a continuous sequence with no repetition, no phrasing and no moment shaped to be watched. It was a refusal of spectacle, and it became one of the most influential dances of the century.
