You're looking at The Chess Players — a print by Duchamp, nineteen sixty-six. An etching: the plate is covered in wax, drawn through with a needle, and the acid does the cutting. Measured, it is among the most saturated surfaces in this museum — 49 where the typical work sits at 11.
