This one's called Study of a Baboon — a painting by the British artist Francis Bacon, nineteen fifty-three. Bacon was part of the surrealism movement. Oil on canvas — pigment ground into a slow-drying oil, which is what lets a painter go back into wet paint for days. In the picture, look for the dog.
