Spoon Woman

This is Spoon Woman, modelled by Alberto Giacometti between nineteen twenty-six and nineteen twenty-seven. The body is a spoon: the concave bowl becomes the belly, on the model of West African ceremonial spoons that Paris artists were looking at closely in those years. This is a bronze cast made in nineteen seventy-six.
