This is Letters (The Twenty-Six Series) — a sculpture by Richard Tuttle, nineteen sixty-six. Galvanized iron, twenty-six parts — about 3.8 by 5.5 meters. It is one of the largest things in this museum — about 75 times the area of a typical work here. Tuttle was part of the postminimalism movement.
