Before you is Hope, two — a painting by the Austrian artist Gustav Klimt, nineteen oh seven to nineteen oh eight. Klimt was part of the Symbolism movement. Printed in platinum rather than silver, so the metal sits down among the paper fibres instead of on top of them — that is where the long matte greys come from. You can pick out the mother and child.
