Girl with a Mandolin (Fanny Tellier)

This is Girl with a Mandolin, painted in Paris in the late spring of nineteen ten. The sitter was Fanny Tellier, and this is one of the most legible pictures of high analytic Cubism — head, shoulders and instrument still readable inside a scaffold of grey and ochre planes. Picasso is said to have left it unfinished.
