This is Flying Object, a rocket built by the Belgian artist Panamarenko in nineteen sixty-nine out of balsa wood, cardboard, plastic, fabric, aluminium and steel. Panamarenko spent his career building aircraft that were engineered in earnest and never flew. The seriousness is the point, not the failure.
