This is Barber Shop Chord — a print by the American artist Stuart Davis, nineteen thirty-one. Davis was part of the American modernism movement. A lithograph, drawn in grease on stone: the stone is wetted so the ink takes only where the drawing is. Nothing is cut away. In the picture, look for the abstract shapes.
